It’s that time of year again – the flip flops have been put away and we’re looking forward to getting back into our snow bubble.  Although I do have a degree in Geography I’m no meteorologist, so we\’re relying on the  professional to look into their crystal ball to see what snow gifts Mother Nature has in store for us this heli ski season.

I’m pleased to report that it’s looking seriously good as far as British Columbia, Canada goes…here is a summary of what they are predicting:-

The Old Farmer’s Almanac First published in 1972, this predictive reference book uses weather forecasts, tide tables and astronomical data to give seriously accurate weather predictions. The formula devised is so secret that it is kept in a rusty old tin box in New Hampshire where few eyes have seen it.  Here are the highlights:-

> Expecting below normal temperatures in the west  due to a decline in solar activity combined with ocean-atmosphere patterns in the Pacific and Atlantic
> There will be above normal snowfall from southernmost British Columbia eastward through western Ontario and from Montreal eastward to the Atlantic

Brett Anderson from AccuWeather.com

> The winter of 2013/14 will bring plenty of snow to ski/snowboard resorts in both the West and East
> The West will get off to a much quicker start, as cold air gets established during November and December from the Rockies to the central Prairies
