Pure Powder’s Top 10 Blogs of 2020

We’ve updated our top 10 favourite ski blogs which bring you the latest ski news, top tips and fashionable destinations.  Get your powder fix today and whet your appetite for the season ahead…

powdermatt.com/   To kick off the list we have this cracking a blog by Matt Mosteller – one year, while his friends were busy getting jobs and settling down, a young Matt Mosteller spent 63 days living in his car so he could ski every day.  It’s now 20 years later and he’s still seeking out adventures and sharing his stories.  So, it goes without saying that he is just as hooked on powder as we arehaving skied now for over 40 years!  This epic ski blog covers skiing in the Canadian Rockies.  Monthly posts share his newest experiences, resort news and upcoming ski events – it really is a cracking read.

https://stories.cmhheli.com/ CMH’s story book is one of our favourite blogs on this list – with CMH being the world’s largest heli-skiing company, they sure do know their stuff when it comes to all things ski.  CMH Stories site is not only the perfect place to go to for advice on heli skiing but they share interesting articles on how to become a CMH guide through to how to make your own CMH cocktail at home. Never a dull moment on this site!

Pure Powder's Top 10 Blogs of 2020

http://www.theskidiva.com/blog/  Of course we’ve chosen Ski Diva for our Top 10 blogs again – on doing our research into the Top 10 blogs we’ve noticed that the forums tend to be quite male orientated so this is one for all our female skiers. ‘SkiDiva’ is the leading online community for women skiers run by passionate sportswoman Wendy Clinch.  Focusing on the latest gear, best techniques, trendiest resorts and current ski conditions; this blog is a great source of information for all “Divas” with the same passion for ski.

http://wildsnow.com  The depth of content on mountaineer Louis Dawson’s blog, WildSnow, is unbelievable and makes for an excellent read; we’d be crazy not to list it on our top 10 blogs again.  Dawson is well-known amongst the backcountry skiers and is an extremely valuable source when it comes to all things skiing – and there’s now a podcast too which is definitely worth checking out!

https://www.weathertoski.co.uk/  This fantastic website (not technically just a blog) is the brainchild of Fraser Wilkin, freelance journalist and snow reporter, and is the result of a lifetime’s research into Alpine weather and snow conditions. It brings you clear and regular updates on ski destinations all over the world; making sure that you’re updated wherever you are.

Pure Powder's Top 10 Blogs of 2020

https://henrysavalanchetalk.com/blog/  Henry’s Avalanche Talk (HAT) is run by a team of ski professionals and free riders who use their blog to provide training and essential information for skiers who want to go off piste, but are held back by fear of the unknown. HAT is known for helping ordinary skiers have an extraordinary experience off-piste.  It aims to develop your avalanche awareness and provide you with insight to skiing on the piste as well as development of your off-piste skiing skills.  Look out for some of their training events in the UK, and also their online courses in avalanche awareness.

https://www.purepowder.com  And of course, we remain bias as we keep our Pure Powder blog on our Top 10 ski blogs.  However we’re not the only ones who think we’re worth a mention in a Top 10 (see Ski Lift’s Top 25 ski blogs for our mention!)  Our posts aim to give you all an insight our latest experiences, opinions on the best equipment, ski fitness exercises (some downloads available also) to help you get ready for your heli skiing experience as well as some guides of the best off piste skiing resorts.  Enjoy!

https://planetski.eu/ PlanetSKI was founded by the journalist, James Cove who is a qualified ski instructor has skied around 600 resorts across the world: from South & North America, the Alps and the Pyrenees plus other areas in Europe including Russia and Scandinavia. The aim is to entertain and inform skiers about life in the mountains – with updated news stories, video reports and superb photos – it is not influenced by glossy press releases and free trips, but rather the unbiased opinions of its writers. What we love – honesty.
