The Pure Powder Guide to the best ski blogs in the business

As the ski season draws ever closer we thought we’d share with you our thoughts on the best skiing blogs in cyberspace…

Alaska Main 1

Whatever you are after, be it finding some hidden resort gems, off piste skiing tips, the ultimate heli skiing destinations or just a bit of fun in the snow… our pick of the bunch will definitely get you in the mood for skiing and boarding this coming winter.

http://homeboyski.com

Run by a team of enthusiastic backcountry skiers, this blog shares gear reviews, tips and insider knowledge of resorts. Everything from Avalanche safety tips to skiing in Afghanistan. Avoiding the typical ‘gnarly’ language that you may expect from extreme skiers, they are a trusted source for all types of skiing information.

http://wildsnow.com

This is run by mountaineer Louis Dawson who is known in the backcountry skiing community for being the first person to ski all 54 of Colorado state’s 14,000 ft peaks. Whether blogging on avalanche transceivers or the weather systems, he is a valuable source when it comes to skiing information.

http://www.greghill.ca

Greg Hill is an adventurer ‘on the constant search for powder’ having skied over 165 mountains in his time. He has skied in Alaska, Chile, Europe, North America, his documented adventures give a fascinating insight into the life of a professional skier. And look out for his blog when he heli skied with CMH.

https://stories.canadianmountainholidays.com/

For the expert opinion on CMH, you must look at this blog prior to your heli skiing trip. This is a great source of information on CMH’s individual ski areas and lodges in British Columbia but they also keep you up-to-date with Warren Miller’s latest ski movies and their ski fitness tips. Giving you a great idea of what goes into your heli skiing trip.

We’re going to be a little biased here, but we believe our blog gives a personal and refreshing insight into the world of skiing. From ski fitness downloads to first-hand skiing stories – Pure Powder have experienced it and want to share it with you. Where else can you find a guide to the best off piste resorts?

http://skiblog-skiblog.blogspot.com

Named ‘Top Skiing Blog’ which is not surprising considering it gives you step-by-step guides and tips whether you’re skiing trees, moguls or just trying to last the long day. Better suited for strong, intermediate skiers looking to brave the next challenge, this blog is written by the ideal candidate – a fully certified ski instructor.

http://blogs.smh.com.au/travel/archives/snow_it_all

Although largely centred on the Australian/New Zealand skiing community, Miss Snow-it-all has a refreshingly honest insight into the ski world. Whether she’s commenting on the rapid decline of food on the slopes, reviewing her heli skiing trip or her visit to Japan, Miss Snow-it-all is a ‘powder junkie’ worth following.

http://fall-line.co.uk/blogs

Written by a team based around the globe, this blog gives a more rounded view into the ski world. Want the lowdown on Argentina? Want to become a ski instructor? It makes a nice change to read the blogs from the locals as well as the professionals.

If you know of a blog that should have made the list – do let us know and we’ll take a look.  As ever, we’d love to hear your views.
